Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (SMER-SD) is meeting his German counterpart Johann David Wadephul in Bratislava on Tuesday for talks covering bilateral and European issues. The ministers are to discuss regional cooperation, the EU’s next long-term budget, illegal migration, energy, competitiveness and further EU enlargement, also addressing current foreign policy and security challenges.
Blanár described Germany as Slovakia’s strategic political and most important economic partner, noting that both countries are members of the European Union and NATO. He said regular bilateral dialogue helps the two countries seek common solutions to current challenges. The meeting marks Wadephul’s first working visit to Slovakia since taking office as Germany’s foreign minister.
