A two-day meeting of Visegrad Four ministers responsible for regional development began in the High Tatras on Monday, with EU cohesion funding and the future of Europe’s regions after 2027 high on the agenda.
Slovakia is hosting the talks as part of its V4 presidency. European Commission Executive Vice-President Raffaele Fitto also joined the meeting on Monday. He addressed the “Right to Stay” initiative, which focuses on jobs, housing, transport, education and healthcare in regional communities. Ministers from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland are also discussing support for eastern border regions, simpler access to EU funding, and a greater role for regional and local authorities in investment decisions.
