Slovakia’s first privately established river-type protected area has been created in the village of Breznička, near Poltár.
The protected area encompasses the floodplain of the Ipeľ River, Slovakia’s third-longest river. Several landowners and local enthusiasts have joined forces to help preserve the area’s natural character and ensure that its unique landscape can be enjoyed by future generations.
