As part of the international Ondrej Nepela Memorial, former Czechoslovak national team member Jozef Sabovčík was inducted into the Slovak Figure Skating Hall of Fame. The Olympic medalist, who has lived in the USA for decades, attended the induction ceremony in Bratislava in person. The 62 years old athlete is a two-time European champion and a bronze medalist from the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. He was the first figure skater in history to land a quadruple jump in competition, although the rules at the time did not officially recognize it.
