Slovakia’s Supreme Audit Office said around 889,000 euros had been spent inefficiently in connection with the country’s participation at Expo Osaka. Findings concerning another 450,000 euros spent on flights and accommodation were referred to prosecutors.
Auditors said Slovakia’s participation had been affected by poor management, personnel changes and weak financial control. They also found that 1.4 million euros had been spent on architectural studies and project documentation that were ultimately not used.
The Audit Office called for major changes in the preparation of Slovakia’s participation at the next Expo in Belgrade.
