Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) strongly criticised Prosecutor General Maroš Žilinka after the Prosecutor General’s Office concluded that the authorities had acted lawfully in the case concerning Slovakia’s donation of military equipment to Ukraine.
The office reviewed decisions related to the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets, KUB air-defence launchers and a radar system and found no violation of the law. Fico disputed the conclusion and said the coalition had reasons to consider legislative changes affecting the prosecution service.
Other representatives of the governing Smer-SD party also questioned the decision, while acknowledging that decisions by state authorities had to be respected.
