Volvo Car Košice has reached a milestone of 1,000 employees and launched its first work shift at its new electric vehicle plant near Košice. The company says testing production will begin in the coming weeks, with full series production planned for 2027. Around 95 percent of production workers are Slovaks. The plant plans to hire another 300 employees by the end of this year, with recruitment continuing next year, mainly for production and maintenance positions.
Volvo is now undergoing final preparations, including testing its technologies and production processes. A new rail service for employees is already operating, with shuttle buses connecting the station directly to the plant.
