After nearly thirteen years of construction, an exact opening date has been set for the Ružomberok bypass. The section of the D1 motorway between Hubová and Ivachnová will open on October 5. Construction was significantly complicated by geological issues. The new section will connect to the existing motorway leading from Ivachnová to Košice. However, the final section from Turany to Hubová—needed for travel in the opposite direction—is still only in the planning stage.
