President Peter Pellegrini on Thursday renewed, by letter, his invitation to Pope Leo XIV to visit Slovakia, as the country will next year mark the centenary of the proclamation of Our Lady of Sorrows as the patron of the Slovak nation.
"Your Holiness, it would be a profound honour for the Slovak Republic and its people to welcome Your Holiness to our country and to join with you in commemorating this historic anniversary, which unites our heritage with hope for future generations," stated Pellegrini.
