Slovakia Allocates €35 Million for Irrigation

Slovakia is allocating 34.8 million euros to expand and modernise irrigation systems and improve water-retention measures in the agricultural sector. Agriculture Minister Richard Takáč (Smer-SD) announced four separate funding calls. More than 8 million euros will support new irrigation systems on farms, while 5 million euros will go towards infrastructure outside farms. Another 15.5 million euros is earmarked for the reconstruction and modernisation of existing irrigation systems, and 6 million euros for water-retention measures. Applications will open on October 12, with deadlines in November and December.
