This year’s National Pilgrimage marking the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, the patron saint of Slovakia, will take place in Šaštín-Stráže from September 12 to 16. The main national celebration is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, as September 15 will exceptionally not be a public holiday this year. The pilgrimage will focus on the theme Our Lady of Sorrows – Mother of Life and will also mark five years since Pope Francis visited Slovakia and celebrated Mass in Šaštín. The programme will include religious services, prayers, concerts and activities for families.
