V4 Leaders to Meet Irish Prime Minister in Bratislava

The prime ministers of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary will meet at Bratislava Castle on Thursday to hold talks with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin as part of the V4+ format. Ireland currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union. The Slovak Government Office announced this.

“Slovakia took over the rotating V4 presidency on July 1, 2026, and during its term it aims to reinvigorate cooperation among the member countries,” the Government Office said.

According to the Government Office, Slovakia’s presidency has four priorities: strengthening competitiveness, supporting EU candidate countries in their accession process, promoting practical sectoral cooperation, and fostering people-to-people contacts. The motto of the Slovak V4 presidency is “V4 for a Stronger Europe.”

Before the V4+ meeting, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) will hold a bilateral meeting with the Irish prime minister.
