Foreign Minister to Sign Host Agreement With Permanent Court of Arbitration

Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (SMER-SD) is due to sign a host agreement with the Permanent Court of Arbitration Secretary-General Marcin Czepelak in The Hague on Tuesday. The agreement will provide a legal framework for arbitration, mediation, conciliation and similar proceedings administered by the court in Slovakia.

The Slovak government approved the agreement last month. The Foreign Ministry says it will deepen Slovakia’s cooperation with the court and reaffirm the country’s support for international law and the peaceful settlement of disputes. Slovakia will also join a small group of countries allowing proceedings administered by the court to be held outside its headquarters in The Hague.
