A Slovak educational programme promoting critical thinking and reading comprehension is expanding to Poland. The Academy of Great Works, or Akadémia veľkých diel, is listed by Slovakia’s Education Ministry as an educational innovation and will launch a pilot programme for Polish teachers and secondary school students in the new academic year.
Participants will read works ranging from antiquity to modern literature, including selected Polish works. They will also visit the Anton Neuwirth College in Ivanka pri Dunaji, Slovakia, which runs the programme. Academy director Miroslava Duranková says the cooperation could help both countries better understand and discover each other’s cultures.
