Slovakia received a message of congratulations from President of the United States of America Donald Trump to mark Constitution Day on Tuesday, the Slovak President's Office's announced. They added that in a letter addressed to President Peter Pellegrini, Trump highlighted the significance of 1 September and dedicated his opening words to the people of Slovakia.
"Together with my fellow Americans, I wish you and the people of Slovakia a joyful Constitution Day on 1 September," stated Trump in the letter.
The American head of state also focused on the bilateral relations between the two countries and their roles within NATO. According to him, the United States and Slovakia are bound by more than just an alliance. "We share an enduring conviction that free nations must have the strength and independence to chart their own course. Our friendship and shared commitments as NATO allies unite us, and our commitment to peace and prosperity remains firm," emphasised Trump.
The US president also highlighted new opportunities for developing bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector. According to him, a growing energy partnership and strong cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy will strengthen Slovakia's energy security, support economic growth and create opportunities for American and Slovak workers and businesses. Trump looks forward to further developing relations in the coming years.
Slovakia also received congratulations from representatives of other countries to mark Slovak Constitution Day, including the presidents of Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Italy and Germany. Congratulations were also sent by the presidents of South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan and Burundi, as well as by the King of Sweden, the King of Saudi Arabia, the Emperor of Japan and the King of the Netherlands.
