About 60,000 People Work Illegally in Slovakia

Between 50,000 to 60,000 people are working illegally in Slovakia, according to an estimate from the Labour Ministry quoted by the Hospodárske Noviny daily. This is due to the fact that companies want to save money on taxes and payroll deductions.

The profile of such an employee says he or she earns a bit more that the minimum wage on paper, in case an employment contract exists, lives in either the Košice or Prešov regions and works in the construction, hotel, or catering sectors.
