Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović arrived in Slovakia on Tuesday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Slovak President Peter Pellegrini. The talks will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, boosting economic cooperation and supporting Montenegro’s path towards EU membership. The two presidents are also expected to discuss developments in the Western Balkans, energy security in Europe and other international issues. Slovakia has long supported EU enlargement and considers the integration of Western Balkan countries important for Europe’s stability, security and prosperity.
The presidents will also discuss trade, investment and new opportunities for businesses in both countries. The visit builds on an active political dialogue between Slovakia and Montenegro, including Pellegrini’s official visit to Montenegro in May last year, which further strengthened bilateral ties. It is the first official visit to Slovakia by a Montenegrin president since July 2021.
