Slovakia is calling for stronger EU support for farmers as the agricultural sector faces drought, low milk purchase prices and high fertilizer costs. Agriculture Minister Richard Takáč (Smer-SD) made the comments at the Země živitelka agricultural fair in České Budějovice.
Slovakia, together with the Czech Republic and other EU countries, wants sufficient funding for agriculture, less bureaucracy and more flexible rules after 2027. Takáč also met Czech Agriculture Minister Martin Šebestyán and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš to discuss agricultural cooperation, commodity prices and the situation in the Visegrad Four countries.
