STVR Discusses EBU Cooperation and Public Media Challenges

STVR Director General Martina Flašíková discussed cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union, or EBU, and the future of public-service media in Europe with EBU representative Radka Betcheva last week. Their talks focused on joint projects, sharing content and expertise, and strengthening cooperation among EBU members. Betcheva said STVR both contributes its own experience to the EBU and benefits from the best practices of public broadcasters across Europe. Flašíková said the meeting confirmed STVR’s active role in the European public-service media community.

The EBU has 115 public-service media members worldwide. Membership gives STVR access to international news exchanges, co-productions and professional cooperation in technology and broadcasting standards. In 2025, STVR contributed 204 items to the EBU system, which were broadcast more than 8,000 times on 130 channels.

During her visit to STVR, Betcheva also viewed an exhibition marking 100 years of radio and 70 years of television broadcasting in Slovakia. She also attended Slovak Traditional Costume Day in Banská Bystrica.
