Slovakia’s Association of Towns and Municipalities, ZMOS, is warning about the growing number of vending machines selling psychoactive and other risky products. It is joining a prevention campaign by the Storm civic association and has signed a memorandum to strengthen long-term cooperation. ZMOS also wants towns and cities to have a say in where such machines can be placed.
Storm says dozens are already operating across Slovakia, with products including sweets, snacks, e-cigarettes and scented candles whose contents may be unclear. The organisations warn that young people can access these products easily, with some cases reportedly ending in hospitalisation. The campaign aims to bring reliable prevention information closer to schools, parents, communities and young people.
