Soitron stated that “remote” control of the tested speed-measuring radar cameras was not possible. According to the company, claims regarding security risks associated with the origin of the stationary cameras are unfounded. At the same time, it has declared its readiness to undergo an independent external security audit.
The Prosecutor General has announced plans to review the Interior Ministry's purchase of the controversial traffic radar cameras. The decision follows concerns raised by opposition party PS over the possible Russian origin of the cameras and the security risks they could pose. The ministry and supplier Soitron have denied claims that the devices are Russian-made.
An inspection by Slovakia's National Security Authority found that components used in the road radar systems came from Russia and could pose a security risk to the state. Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) confirmed the findings but said he saw no reason to take political responsibility for the issue.
