Scientists are testing mRNA-based treatments that could help the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells. Slovak biomedical engineer Miroslav Gašpárek is also involved in developing the technology. One approach creates personalized mRNA based on a patient’s tumor, while another uses modified immune cells to target cancer. Researchers are also studying similar methods for inherited diseases such as high cholesterol and amyloidosis. The first personalized cancer treatments and some gene therapies could reach patients within the next two to three years, although research is still at an early stage.
