Slovakia’s economy grew by 0.7 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, according to a preliminary estimate by the Slovak Statistical Office. This was the slowest growth recorded over the past four quarters. After seasonal adjustment, GDP increased by 0.8 percent year-on-year and by 0.2 percent compared with the first quarter.
Growth was supported mainly by higher household consumption, while investment declined. The country’s foreign trade balance remained positive, although it was lower than a year earlier. Employment remained stable, with around 2.43 million people employed in the second quarter.
