Slovakia will provide more than 1.4 million euros to support 11 projects by Slovak businesses in ten SlovakAid partner countries.
The projects aim to promote sustainable development, modern technologies and local economies. They will be carried out in Angola, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ghana, Iraq, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, Namibia, Nigeria and Ukraine.
Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blanár (SMER-SD) said the projects would combine Slovak expertise and innovative technologies with the development needs of partner countries.
In Angola, the projects will support the development of the coffee value chain, while in Iraq they will focus on building a wastewater treatment plant with water reuse. In Nigeria, renewable energy will be used to help reduce post-harvest losses in agricultural products. In Ukraine, projects will support the modernisation of technologies for safe drinking-water supplies, while Kenya will see pilot smart charging stations for electric vehicles.
The projects are being supported through the Business Partnerships Programme, which also aims to encourage long-term partnerships, private investment, local capacity building and sustainable economic growth.
Between 2023 and 2025, Slovakia supported 22 projects through the programme, worth almost three million euros in total.
