Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has congratulated Hungary’s newly elected president, András Baka, and said he hopes to welcome him to Slovakia soon. Pellegrini said the two countries share long-standing good-neighbourly relations and strong people-to-people ties. He expressed confidence that they will continue cooperation both bilaterally and within the Visegrad Group and the European Union. He also said Slovakia and Hungary can contribute to regional stability, security and prosperity. Pellegrini added that he looks forward to meeting Baka, including at the upcoming V4 presidents’ summit in Slovakia. Baka, a former president of Hungary’s Supreme Court and nominee of the governing Tisza party, was elected by parliament in a secret ballot on Tuesday.
