People across Slovakia will be able to observe a partial solar eclipse on Wednesday evening, followed later by the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. The eclipse will begin shortly after 7 p.m., with more than 80 percent of the Sun covered by the Moon in parts of western Slovakia. In Bratislava, the maximum is expected at around 8:11 p.m. Astronomers advise people to use proper eclipse glasses and choose a location with a clear view to the west. After sunset, the Perseids will become increasingly visible, with around 45 meteors per hour expected under ideal conditions.
