Modernising the Interior Ministry’s information systems will cost almost 124 million euros over the next ten years, according to the Finance Ministry’s Value for Money Unit. The biggest share, 98.5 million euros, will go towards upgrading the ministry’s SAP systems, which support key internal processes.
The upgrade is needed mainly because support for the current SAP versions is nearing its end. The Ministry also plans to replace several separate systems with a unified platform, allowing real-time data sharing and better coordination. However, the Value for Money Unit says the feasibility study does not quantify the expected savings in time, staffing or operating costs. Analysts say this makes it difficult to assess the scale of the project’s expected benefits.
