The Malacky District Office in the Bratislava Region has declared a state of emergency in response to a large-scale fire in the Záhorie Military District. The measure is intended to facilitate more effective coordination of the forces and resources deployed in the affected area, Malacky District Office head Robert Petko told TASR late Saturday, August 8. Petko stressed that residents’ lives and health are not currently at risk.
The forest fire broke out in the Záhorie Military District on Saturday afternoon. According to Defence Ministry spokesperson Michal Bachratý, firefighters brought the blaze under control in the early evening.
