Slovakia’s Interior Ministry is preparing a new automated speed monitoring system worth almost 30 million euros from the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The project includes nearly 300 cameras, but their origin has sparked controversy. Opposition parties and media have questioned whether the devices are linked to a Russian manufacturer or were supplied through a company based in Cyprus. The Ministry denies that the cameras are Russian-made, but has not revealed the full details of the supplier or the contract. Critics are also raising concerns about transparency and possible security risks, while authorities say the system meets the goals of the recovery plan and is moving towards pilot operation.
