Runner Anna Švrček Reaches World Junior Final

Slovak runner Anna Švrček has advanced to the final of the 3000 metres steeplechase at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, USA. The 17-year-old athlete, who was born in Japan and competes for Slovakia, finished sixth in her qualifying heat with a time of 10:14.91, securing one of the eight available places in the final.

Švrček was ranked 11th overall among 27 competitors in the heats. The young runner, who only recently began representing Slovakia at major international competitions, impressed with her performance against some of the world’s best junior athletes.

She will now compete in the final, where she will have a chance to fight for a strong result on the global stage.
