State-owned gas supplier SPP says it will meet the government's target of storing 13 terawatt-hours of natural gas before September. By the start of the heating season, it expects to have 17.5 terawatt-hours in storage.
The Economy Ministry says Slovakia is well prepared despite continuing uncertainty on European energy markets.
Electricity generation rose by three percent in the first half of the year to more than 15 terawatt-hours. Domestic consumption increased slightly, while electricity exports grew by almost 20 percent. Hungary remained Slovakia's largest export market, while most electricity imports came from the Czech Republic.
