Tuesday will go down in measurement records as another day when maximum temperatures reached 40 degrees Celsius or higher, with one of the locations affected being Bratislava's Koliba, where a record 40.6°C was measured, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Office (SHMU) reported on its website.
In Bratislava, the reading represents a new all-time temperature record, surpassing Monday's (3 August) previous highest mark of 39.9°C.
According to reports as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, temperatures of 40°C were also reached in Dolne Plachtince (Banska Bystrica region) and Hurbanovo (Nitra region).
Temperatures first exceeded 40°C this year at the end of June. On the final day of June, an all-time temperature record for Slovakia of 41.3°C was recorded in Kamenica nad Hronom in Nitra region.
