Twenty Slovak firefighters with 19 pieces of firefighting equipment are heading to France to help tackle large wildfires near Bordeaux, Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) announced on Wednesday. The deployment is part of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. Slovakia is already assisting France with a firefighting helicopter. The mission is expected to continue until 18 August.
