President Pellegrini in China; Invited by Xi Jinping

President Peter Pellegrini left for China on Sunday evening. The three-day state visit is taking place at the invitation of Chinese head of state Xi Jinping. Their talks will focus on the further development of Slovak-Chinese relations, economic cooperation and current international issues. Discussions with Chinese officials will also cover support for high value-added investment and the development of cooperation in science and research, industry, transport, logistics, agriculture and tourism.

Pellegrini will also visit major technology centres, including, for example, Baidu, which is one of the world's leading companies in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and autonomous mobility.

On Friday (24 July), Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that Slovakia is an important partner for China in Europe, and under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Slovak leaders, the two countries are maintaining strong relations and achieving fruitful results in various areas.

It's the fifth visit to be paid by a Slovak head of state to China since the founding of independent Slovakia and the first in 16 years. It will conclude 29 July.
