Slovakia’s Interior Ministry says current legislation does not allow same-sex marriages concluded abroad to be registered as marriages under Slovak law. It cites the Constitution, which defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. The statement follows criticism from Prosecutor General Maroš Žilinka, who said the ministry had failed to respond to several applications within the legal deadline. He stressed that the ministry must formally decide whether to approve or reject each request.
