The NATO multinational battlegroup stationed at the Lešť military training area has presented its activities and equipment, including various types of military drones used in operations. The drones serve for battlefield reconnaissance, attacks and logistical support, such as transporting supplies, ammunition or medical equipment. Spanish Army Major Gonzalo De la Plaza Hervias stressed that operating drones requires highly trained personnel and months of specialised preparation.
The battlegroup consists of Slovak, Czech, Slovenian, Portuguese and Romanian troops, with the Spanish contingent currently in command. Its main task is to demonstrate NATO’s ability to respond collectively to potential security threats.
