Slovakia Sees EU’s Third-Fastest Rise in Home Prices

Slovakia recorded the third-fastest rise in residential property prices in the European Union in the first quarter of 2026, according to Eurostat data highlighted by Wood & Company analyst Eva Sadovská. House prices climbed 14.4 percent year-on-year, well above the eurozone average of 4.7 percent and the EU average of 5.1 percent. Only Portugal and Bulgaria saw stronger growth.

Existing homes rose by 15.2 percent, while new-build prices increased by 10.8 percent. Sadovská says demand continues to outstrip supply, with lower mortgage rates and rising incomes also supporting the market. She expects prices to keep rising, although the pace of growth could gradually slow in the coming quarters.
