Mochovce Unit 4 Reactor Sealed

Mochovce Unit 4 Reactor Sealed

Slovakia's largest electricity producer, Slovenské elektrárne, has completed the assembly and sealing of the reactor at Unit 4 of the Mochovce nuclear power plant, marking a major milestone before the new reactor enters service. The work follows the recent loading of all 349 fuel assemblies and clears the way for the next phase of commissioning. Engineers will now carry out a series of tests leading to the reactor's first controlled nuclear chain reaction.

If commissioning stays on schedule, Unit 4 is expected to begin supplying its first low-carbon electricity to the grid after the turbine generator is connected at the end of summer 2026. Output will then be gradually increased until the reactor reaches full operating capacity.
