EU foreign ministers failed to approve the 21st package of sanctions against Russia during Monday's Foreign Affairs Council meeting, with discussions set to continue later this week. Slovak State Secretary Marek Eštok said the proposed measures do not threaten Slovakia's economic interests, adding that the government carefully reviews every sanctions package to protect businesses and energy supplies.
The meeting also focused on continued support for Ukraine. Eštok reiterated that Slovakia will continue providing humanitarian and energy assistance while supporting peace efforts, but will not participate in military aid. He also highlighted Slovakia's role in strengthening electricity connections with Ukraine through a 100 million euro EU-backed project.
