Slovak Post says its ongoing transformation is designed to modernise services and ensure the company's long-term sustainability, rejecting opposition claims that post offices are being closed without adequate alternatives. The company says services such as home delivery, smaller local branches and digital solutions already provide access for many customers without the need for traditional post offices. According to Slovak Post, more than 1000 of its 1300 branches currently operate at a loss, making reform unavoidable. The opposition KDH has criticised the closure of branches, particularly in rural areas, and is calling for an explanation of the criteria used to decide which offices are affected.
