Slovakia's Environment Ministry has approved the environmental assessment for Slovnaft's planned waste-to-energy plant in Bratislava, allowing the project to move forward. The facility would process up to 220 000 tons of municipal and industrial waste a year, with operations expected to begin in 2029 or 2030. The ministry said the project meets environmental standards and imposed 56 conditions to reduce its environmental impact. It also stressed that the plant will process only waste generated in Slovakia, despite concerns raised by local governments and environmental groups.
