Slovakia's State Veterinary and Food Administration is reminding people that selling home-grown fruit, vegetables or other food through social media is subject to the same rules as other forms of distance selling. Anyone offering food online must register with the regional veterinary and food authority, with the registration costing 50 euros, or 25 euros if completed electronically. The Financial Administration also monitors online sales and checks whether annual income from occasional sales exceeds the 500-euro tax threshold. Violating the rules can result in fines ranging from 100 to 30,000 euros.
