Foreign Minister Reaffirms Support for Ukraine

Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) said Slovakia will continue providing humanitarian and non-lethal assistance to Ukraine but believes the country should not become a member of NATO.

Speaking on his way to the NATO Summit in Ankara, Blanár welcomed what he described as a growing consensus within the Alliance that Ukraine's future lies outside NATO. He said Slovakia would continue supporting Ukraine with humanitarian aid and equipment such as demining systems, excavators and water tankers.

Blanár is attending the NATO Summit together with President Peter Pellegrini and Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD). The leaders are expected to discuss Euro-Atlantic security, defence spending and support for Ukraine.
