Slovakia is expected to spend 2.02 percent of its GDP on defence in 2026, according to updated NATO estimates released ahead of the Alliance's summit in Ankara. The government plans to gradually increase defence spending to 3.5 percent of GDP by 2034, while keeping it at around two percent next year. NATO members agreed last year to work towards spending five percent of GDP on defence and related security investments by 2035. According to the latest figures, Lithuania currently spends the largest share of its GDP on defence, followed by Estonia and Latvia.
