Education Minister Tomáš Drucker announced that Bratislava will be one of only two European cities to host the release of the 2025 PISA education results on 8 September.
The event is expected to draw education experts, policymakers and researchers from Central and Eastern Europe as well as Central Asia. Participants will discuss the findings of the latest Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) study and exchange best practices aimed at improving education systems across the region.
Drucker emphasised that the PISA study is a key tool for evaluating how effectively schools prepare students for real-life challenges. Unlike traditional exams, it focuses on students’ ability to apply knowledge and skills in reading, mathematics and science to practical situations.
The minister added that the release is seen as a significant opportunity for Slovakia to showcase its education system and engage in international dialogue on reforms and innovation. The results will help identify strengths and weaknesses in Slovak education and guide future policy decisions. Around 6,000 Slovak students from 301 schools took part in the international OECD assessment earlier this year, contributing to a global dataset that compares education outcomes across dozens of countries.
