Slovakia to Back NATO Summit Conclusions

Slovakia to Back NATO Summit Conclusions

Slovakia will support the conclusions of this week’s NATO summit after President Peter Pellegrini, Prime Minister Robert Fico (SMER-SD) and Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (SMER-SD) reached a joint position. However, Pellegrini said Slovakia will not provide further financial aid or loans for military assistance to Ukraine, stressing that such commitments are for individual NATO member states to decide. He added that Slovakia will continue providing humanitarian aid, support for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and non-lethal assistance.

Pellegrini will attend the summit with Foreign Minister Blanár and Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák (SMER-SD). He is also scheduled to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday to discuss regional security, economic cooperation and bilateral relations.
