Slovakia provided nearly 180 million euros in official development assistance in 2025, with almost half of the funding directed to Europe and Ukraine remaining the country's largest bilateral aid recipient.
According to a government report, the total amounted to 179.7 million euros, or 0.13 percent of Slovakia's gross national income. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs says the country continued to support less developed regions through the SlovakAid programme while contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Compared with 2024, however, total aid declined by more than five million euros. The ministry attributes the decrease to the consolidation of public finances and the absence of one-off measures, such as COVID-19 vaccine donations and debt relief programmes.
Ukraine remained Slovakia's largest bilateral aid recipient, followed by projects in countries including Moldova, Serbia, Kenya, Lebanon and Iraq.
Despite these efforts, Slovakia continues to rank among the lowest contributors to official development assistance within the OECD.
