Inflation Continues to Moderate

Inflation in Slovakia slowed to 3.5 percent in June, reaching its lowest level since December 2024.

According to the National Bank of Slovakia, lower food and energy prices were the main reasons behind the decline. Falling oil prices, linked to easing tensions in the Middle East, were quickly reflected in fuel prices, helping to reduce overall inflation.

Consumer prices also fell by 0.2 percent compared with May. The central bank says the slowdown has been stronger than expected, mainly because of a more favourable international environment.

Despite the improvement, Slovakia still has one of the highest inflation rates in the eurozone. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, remained unchanged at 3.6 percent, reflecting persistent price pressures, particularly for goods.

The National Bank expects inflation to ease slightly further to 3.3 percent in July.
