Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) met his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares in Bratislava, marking the first visit by a Spanish foreign minister to Slovakia in two decades, during the annual meeting of Slovak ambassadors. The ministers said Slovakia and Spain share similar positions on major international conflicts, stressing that diplomacy and dialogue should take precedence over military solutions. They also reaffirmed their support for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, closer defence cooperation and EU enlargement based on clear conditions. During his visit, Albares also addressed Slovakia's annual meeting of ambassadors, where discussions focused on European security, multilateral cooperation and current global challenges.
