Slovakia recorded its highest temperature ever on Monday, with 41 degrees Celsius measured in Turňa nad Bodvou near Košice, according to the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute. The new record surpassed the previous national high of 40.3 degrees, set in Hurbanovo in 2007. Temperatures also exceeded 40 degrees at several other weather stations across the country. The institute said the figures are still preliminary and will be officially verified in the coming days.
